UEL Students
Students must be fully enrolled and have a UEL ID card to access the library buildings, services and facilities.
Student Library accounts will be created/updated within 24 hours of enrolment/re-enrolment.
To use online resources, students need to login with their UEL login and password.

UEL Staff
Staff library accounts need to be created manually, to do this email library@uel.ac.uk from the UEL staff email.
UEL ID cards will allow staff to access the library buildings, services and facilities.

External Visitors
External visitors may be allowed reference access to our collections, or have limited borrowing privileges, depending on their circumstances.
For security and copyright reasons, there is no access to electronic resources, room bookings, inter library loans or the UEL network.

SCONUL Access
The free SCONUL access scheme is open for staff and students at participating institutions.
On their first visit, SCONUL visitors must bring their SCONUL acceptance letter, ID issued by their home institution and a passport photograph for the creation of a visitor ID card.

A £5 fee is charged for the replacement of a lost or damaged visitor ID card, payments can be made here: Library Payments

Alumni
UEL alumnus can purchase the Alumni Network Passport card for a one-off payment of £15.

Alumni Network Passport card holders who does not want borrowing privileges can use any UEL Library free of charge for reference only.
To activate Library Borrowing Rights, Alumni Network Passport card holders must additionally make an annual payment of £50 to UEL Libraries. Payments can be made online by visiting this link: Library Payments
UEL alumnus must make their first visit to the library during staffed Helpdesk hours (see: Opening Hours) and bring their Alumni Network Passport ID, proof of address and library borrowing payment to activate their accounts.
Once active, a maximum of up to five books at a time can be borrowed.
